Wolfgang Falck and Werner Streib

From left to right: Major Wolfgang Falck (Geschwaderkommodore Nachtjagdgeschwader 1) and Hauptmann Werner Streib (Gruppenkommandeur I.Gruppe / Nachtjagdgeschwader 1). Falck became the leader of the first dedicated night fighter unit in the world, Nachtjagdgeschwader 1 (NJG 1), in 19 July 1940 (for this achievement he was known as the "Father of the Night Fighters", Vater der Nachtjagdwaffe). He was to command NJG 1 for three years and in partnership with General Josef Kammhuber develop a highly effective night fighter force. There is no information when this picture was taken, but surely it was taken after Falck received his Ritterkreuz (October 1940) and before Streib received his Deutsches Kreuz in Gold (February 1942)
